Instructions for patient who will have surgery with Dr. Nond

  1. If possible, please stop dietary supplements such as Ginko, herbs and mixing herbal medications for at least four weeks before surgery.
  2. Blood thinning agents such as aspirin, plavix and anti-coagulant such as warfarin must be stopped at least 2 weeks prior to your surgery. The longer, the better. However you should consult your doctor to ensure that it is safe to temporarily stop it.
  3. Risk of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is high in caucasians. It is thus recommended that patients drink enough fluid, move around frequently on the way to Bangkok and wear appropriate anti-embolism stockings if available.
  4. Preoperative tests are mandatory for surgery to be done under general anesthesia. Test reports from hospitals are acceptable. This is for patient's safety. If surgery will be performed at Bumrungrad, the tests must be done at a JCI-accredited hospital within one month prior to surgery. Official reports must be available at consultation.
  5. All elective surgery including cosmetic surgery is best done when healthy. It is thus the patient's own responsibility to maintain the healthiest status. Please report any known underlying illness to Dr. Nond well before surgery. Please also provide a complete list of medications you are taking and allergies to drugs or other substances.
  6. It is advisable to have someone to accompany you after surgery.
  7. Do not smoke or ingest nicotine for at least four weeks before and after surgery as smoking can delay healing and diminish skin blood supply.
  8. Isotretinoin (Roaccutane) for acne must be stopped for at least 12 to 18 months prior to surgery in order to prenent delayed wound healing and abnormal scarring.
  9. Patient who is under 20 years old must come with a parent to sign the consent form.
